When Style And Oral Health Collide in Juno Beach

Oral piercing is a popular form of body-art in North Palm Beach, but just because it’s popular doesn’t mean it’s safe. I’m Dr. Brion Weinberg, a dentist serving North Palm Beach and the surrounding areas. When my patients ask me about the safety of oral piercings, I make sure they understand the possible consequences.

First, North Palm Beach residents should know that infection is always a major concern with any piercing, but because the mouth is the perfect environment for breeding bacteria, oral piercings are especially problematic for oral health. Chewing, swallowing, and speaking can also be impaired by an oral piercing.

Oral piercings can lead to an increase in saliva flow and, possibly, excessive drooling, something my North Palm Beach cosmetic dental patients generally want to avoid. (I don’t know anyone who thinks drooling is attractive.) Chipped or cracked teeth, damage to dental fillings, and metal sensitivity are other possible results.

Another serious risk associated with piercings that should concern North Palm Beach residents is nerve damage. Many people experience temporary numbness after a piercing, but for some, sensations never return. An injured nerve can also affect facial movements as well as your sense of taste.

Do you really want to risk looking like a stroke victim for the rest of your life?

If you’ve read through this and you’re still sure a tongue bar or lip piercing is for you, please consult your North Palm Beach area dentist so they can help you make the safest decision possible for your dental health. If you are looking for a dentist around North Palm Beach, our honest and technologically advanced staff here at Center for Aesthetic and Restorative Dentistry would be happy to schedule an appointment for you. We offer dental implants, Invisalign clear braces, general dentistry, and more!

We may even convince you that safe, effective cosmetic dentistry such as teeth whitening, veneers, or bonding would be a smarter and safer way to express your personality and boost your confidence. Give us a call today!

Treatment For Stress-Induced Jaw Pain In West Palm Beach

Treatment For Stress Induced Jaw Pain In Juno Beach

Everyday aggravators cause many West Palm Beach people to respond by clenching their jaw or grinding their teeth. For example, daily commuting in West Palm Beach can take a physical toll. All the traffic, noise, and perpetual road construction causes some people to grind their teeth as they navigate the sea of cars.

Some West Palm Beach folks who hate waiting in long lines channel their frustration to their jaw as they try, by the sheer force of will, to cause the line to move faster.

Teeth grinding and jaw clenching can cause a painful condition called TMD or Temporomandibular Joint Disorder. In West Palm Beach, TMD is often mistakenly called ‘TMJ‘: the acronym for Temporomandibular Joint.

Your jaw is able to open and close thanks to many jaw muscles and the intricate temporomandibular joints. These joints allow for fluid mobility as you chew, speak, and yawn.

Damage to these joints can lead to chronic pain in the jaw, head, face and neck. Pain may be experienced on one or both sides of the jaw.

TMD is an often misdiagnosed condition in West Palm Beach because facial pain can result from a variety of things, not just damage to the temporomandibular joints. Sinus infections, tooth decay, and facial inuries can cause jaw pain. A correct diagnosis is necessary for treating TMD.

At Center for Aesthetic and Restorative Dentistry we have been diagnosing and treating TMD since 1999. If you are experiencing clicking, popping, or discomfort in your jaw, call Center for Aesthetic and Restorative Dentistry today for a diagnosis and treatment plan.

I am Dr. Brion Weinberg and I enjoy providing high quality cosmetic dentistry to the residents of West Palm Beach and the surrounding areas.

Center for Aesthetic and Restorative Dentistry not only treats TMD and provides toothache relief, but we redesign smiles with state-of-the-art dental treatments. We offer restorative dentistry and sedation dentistry, emergency dental care,  Invisalign clear braces and more.

Your smile is contagious! Make sure it is healthy and beautiful. Call Center for Aesthetic and Restorative Dentistry today to schedule a consultation or examination (561) 420-0770.

Have A Large Cavity In Your Tooth?

Friday, February 10th, 2012

Juno Beach Cosmetic Dentistry When Dr. Brion Weinberg of Center for Aesthetic and Restorative Dentistry in North Palm Beach repairs a tooth that has decay or damage, the procedure chosen often depends on the location of the problem. (We’re talking tooth-specific locale here; it doesn’t matter whether you live in North Palm Beach or a surrounding area.) If there is a chip, crack or cavity on the biting surface of a tooth, an onlay or inlay is often used to restore the tooth.

Inlays and onlays are a type of tooth restoration used successfully at Center for Aesthetic and Restorative Dentistry. They are usually bigger than a conventional filling yet smaller than a complete porcelain crown. An inlay is used to fill an area inside the cusp tips or bumps of a tooth. An onlay covers an area that includes more than one cusp.

At Center for Aesthetic and Restorative Dentistry, the inlays and onlays we place for our North Palm Beach clients are indistinguishable from their natural teeth. Dr. Brion Weinberg has the finely-honed eye for detail and complete mastery of dental aesthetics to create an exact match.

Center for Aesthetic and Restorative Dentistry inlays and onlays:

  • Are stain resistant
  • Do not cause tooth sensitivity
  • Are beautifully matched to natural teeth
  • When bonded to the tooth, they strengthen the tooth and prevent further decay or damage

Keeping Dental Patients Comfortable in West Palm Beach

Keeping Dental Patients Comfortable in Juno Beach

Pain isn’t fun. Your West Palm Beach dentist knows this, and that is why the dental team at Center for Aesthetic and Restorative Dentistry have made patient comfort a top priority. In conjunction with creating a relaxing environment, your dentist has various medications that can reduce and even eliminate pain associated with different dental procedures to give you a more enjoyable experience.

Some of the most common pain-relieving medications used in West Palm Beach dentist offices and around the country are topical anesthetics. These are swabbed directly onto mouth tissue so they only numb the very surface layers. Topical anesthetics can reduce the pain of mouth sores, or they can be applied to prepare the mouth for an injection.

Local anesthetics are injected into mouth tissue (usually the gums) to block the nerve sensations to specific areas of the mouth. West Palm Beach area dentists numb the mouth in this way before filling cavities, treating gum disease, or before certain cosmetic dentistry procedures.

More involved dental procedures may necessitate the need for nitrous oxide or even general anesthesia. Ask us about sedation dentistry and oral conscious sedation.

It is very common for your dentist to recommend an over the counter analgesic to relieve pain after a dental visit. These medications include aspirin, ibuprofen, and acetaminophen.

Because your West Palm Beach cosmetic dentist will most likely use a pain reliever during the dental visit or prescribe something for you to take after the treatment, make sure you jot down a complete list of medications you are taking, including herbal supplements, before each appointment.

I’m Dr. Brion Weinberg and I want West Palm Beach residents to be informed about their dental care, especially as it pertains to pain relief during dental treatment. If you are in the West Palm Beach area and are looking for quality dental care, please contact my office today at (561) 420-0770. Our honest and technologically advanced staff would be happy to talk to you about sedation dentistry, dental implants, emergency dental care, root canals, and the other services we offer.
